What these Map Means

Each map shows the change in risk relative to the expected risk for a given 3 month season at each of the grid boxes. Changes are only shown for grid boxes with a sufficient number of years of data and for changes that are significant at the >95% confidence level. The blue to green colors are associated with risk values below 1.0 and identify grid boxes where there is a decrease in the risk for wet/dry/warm/or cold extremes. The colors yellow, brown, red, to magenta colors are associated with risk values above 1.0 and identify grid boxes where there is a increase in the risk for wet/dry/warm/or cold extremes.
